Itinerary
August 2022
Below is a general itinerary we use for BEAR Expeditions. The itinerary disclosing schedules and location may change due to weather, tides, and where the bears are located. The itinerary is also flexible based on guests desires. As a small group private charter, we can be on land for as long as we want.
Day 1
All Day: Travel day, arrive to Kodiak, Alaska.
All Day: Check into hotel
5 PM: Meet and greet. Group dinner at a restaurant and casual overview discussion of what to expect in the field.
Note: there are many things to do on Kodiak Island including three museums, local fishing, walking around town and the port. There are opportunities for souvenir and grocery shopping. We recommend that if you wish to explore Kodiak Island or need to visit vendors to come in a day earlier. This will not be included in the overall price of the trip.
Recommendation: be sure you have camera batteries charged and ready for travel the next day!
Day 2
Morning/Day: Travel day to the M/V Coastal Explorer II (weather dependent) via float planes with SeaHawk Air.
On the Ship: Once onboard all bags and gear will go to assigned cabins. We will have a brief orientation onboard the ship with the captain and guides on boat rules and bear viewing rules in the field.
